International Scientific Cooperation

As part of its international scientific cooperation activities, the National Centre for Applied Research in Earthquake Engineering (CGS) was represented by Dr. Toufiq Ouzandja, researcher at the Centre, during the international CERG-C 2026 – Specialization Programme in Assessment and Management of Geological and Climate-related Risk, held at the University of Geneva, Switzerland.

The three-month programme brought together researchers, engineers and specialists from several countries to address issues related to the assessment and management of natural and climate-related risks, including seismic hazards, landslides, floods, volcanic hazards and the impacts of climate change.

During the programme, Dr. Ouzandja presented his research project entitled “Evaluation of Site Effects in the Mitidja Basin Using Ambient Noise H/V Spectral Ratios,” focusing on the assessment of site effects in the Mitidja Basin.

The project aims to characterize local seismic response, identify areas prone to ground-motion amplification, and contribute to improving seismic microzonation studies and seismic hazard assessment in Algeria.
