CGS Researchers Participate in the 40th ESC General Assembly

A large delegation of researchers from the CGS took part in the 40th General Assembly of the European Seismological Commission (ESC), held from September 6 to 11, 2026, in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The Center's researchers presented six scientific contributions, including oral presentations and posters, focusing notably on seismology, accelerometric networks, site effects, tsunamis, and earthquake analysis in Algeria:

  •  Nasser Laouami – 1D Shear-Wave-Velocity Profiles of Free-Field Strong Motion Stations…
  •  Nourredine Mezouar & Raouf Bencharif – Integrated Geotechnical–Geophysical Site Characterization and Site-Specific Seismic Response Analysis…
  •  Youcef Bouhadad – Contribution of Accelerographs Networks in Seismological Studies: The Case Study of the Gdeyl (Oran, Algeria) Earthquake.
  •  Youcef Bouhadad – Earthquake Tsunamis Hazard Along the Algerian Mediterranean Coast: Field Evidences of Past Events and Modeling of Expected Sea Waves.
  • Amar Benfedda & Youcef Bouhadad – Source Rupture Process Analysis Using Accelerometric Data: Case Study of the March 18th, 2021, Mw 6.0 Bejaia Earthquake.
  • Abdennasser Slimani, Influence of Three-Dimensional Soil Spatial Variability on the Seismic Response of RC Frame Structures.
  • Djamal Machane & Hakim Melouel  « Activity Rate of the Thenia Fault Inferred from Uplifted Marine Terraces and the Activity Rate of the Zemmouri Active Fault »

This participation contributes to promoting CGS research work and strengthening international scientific exchanges in the fields of seismology and earthquake engineering.
